Business Presentations and Presentation Projectors

A presentation projector is the cornerstone of a good sales presentation. Along the lines of "you only get one chance to make a first impression", don't skimp on the quality of your material and projector images.

While there may be a wide range of the type of images that business presentations contain, use crisp high-resolution graphics that reinforce your message both in content and in quality of your service.

A helpful guide to producing a great presentation is to use the projector and the images as a parallel line of information. If you use the projected material as prompts in order to read off the screen then your audience will think that you are nothing more than a talking head. The presentation material may as well have been emailed to the participants.

One effective technique is to create images that pose questions to problems, and then you talk to your prospects about your company's solution to it. Using humorous images keeps your audience amused and engaged. There is nothing more boring than an oral commentary on PowerPoint slides.

Once you have your presentation fleshed out and prepared, pay some attention to the presentation projector that you will use. First consider the size of the room or conference hall, auditorium or booth that you will be making the presentation. A small space with low ambient light allows inexpensive equipment but a large room with many people and high ambient light calls for a more sophisticated presentation projector.

If the projector is provided for you enquire as to whether it is of adequate quality for your needs. If not, request something appropriate or be prepared to take your own equipment and set it up. The color, clarity and brightness of your presentation projector can make or break the caliber of your performance.

If you decide on a portable projector ensure that it is robust enough to take the rigors of your transport and has the performance to match. A portable projector must be easy and quick to set up with your laptop, comfortably light enough to carry, and meet the variety of conditions in which you will be required to operate. Standards of quality and resolution are rising as technology improves and prices make it affordable.

Aim for a minimum XGA standard with brightness output of at least 1000 lumens. This will get you by only in the least demanding conditions and small-sized meeting rooms. Higher brightness output with multi-mode adjustment would be prudent for the times when space and audience demand better quality. A luminous flux of 2000 to 5000 lumens may be necessary when there is high ambient lighting and long throw to the screen.

As screen size increases consider going from a picture aspect of 4:3 to 16:9 or wide screen WXGA so that the projected image is increasingly more wide than tall. Keep in mind as well that some presentation projectors have multiple modes of brightness, available zoom and different lenses, but be wary of some that also decrease size and resolution when being used for video projection.

Being prepared with not only your great presentation material but also with the right presentation projector equipment makes the whole experience profitable and valuable for all.
